Interference

Post by R Robichaud »

I must admit I know very little about how computers work. About 90% of the time I spend on the internet is reading the various sections of the steel guitar forum. Once in a while I will get interference, and I will notice the icons on the bottom bar, besides the start button go on and off. All this time I am unable to scroll or go to another subject until, whatever is running stops. I do have a norton anti virus program. Could this be the cause if it would be working in the background? Any help would be appreciated. Bob.....

Sounds like RF interference.....

It may be generated by a motor(frig, sewing machine, etc, etc) a likly suspect would be a radio transmitter (CB,Short-wave, other Txmiters) near you. Even your cell phone,(or your neighbors)

Just a thought.... Image

That's a strange problem. I wouldn't think stray RF is causing that, as computer monitors have extensive shielding in them and even if you got RF interference it would just affect the screen display not the entire PC. It sounds more like a PC hardware problem, possibly the video card.

What kind of PC is it and what operating system, memory, etc.

Your problem description is too vague to try and guess what is wrong without additional details.
