I've tried them all. Some I like better than others, but I've been on a quest for lower noise fingerpicks for many years. I've always liked the sound of plastic fingerpicks--they are far quieter and have nice tone from what I've seen. But finding new plastic picks that shape easily, hold their shape once you've gone through that, and that are actually big enough for my fingers has been a fruitless task until now.
I bought some "Chromacast" celluloid fingerpicks--size large. They shape very easily using a hair dryer for heat, hold their shape and sound really good to me. They're shaped a lot like the Dunlops, but shape easier and are big enough for my fingers (after shaping) to where they don't hurt. These are a lot closer to the old plastic fingerpicks I've had over the years than any of the other new ones I've tried.
Anyway, they're cheap so if you've been looking for plastic fingerpicks that acutally work, it might be worth trying a set and seeing what you think.
Finally found some fingerpicks that suit me

Re: Finally found some fingerpicks that suit me
I’m checking these out (ordered a set).
I’m skeptical but hopeful as well. Aside from some Fred Kelly picks I keep around, I’ve always had issues with comfort on plastic fingerpicks (I primarily use ‘Perfect Touch’ as they are longer and fit lower on the knuckle). The Chromacast appear to be longer so, maybe will work.
At times the old laps are a bit trebly, but plastic/delrin (Fred Kelly) do offer a rounder overall tone.
We’ll see. Thanks!
