Modify an Erickson's pedal positions?

Post by Ron Wood »

I have a bad habit of getting onto my third (C) pedal when I just want AB. The 3 pedals are too far left for my aging ability. Seemed OK when I was younger. My plan is to make 2 sets of holes in the pedal channel so I can move pedals to the right one pedal spacing (that's 2.55 inches) or two pedal spacings (5.1 inches)

Only plan for pedal pull rods is to lenghten them as needed and leave top end as original. They will be at an angle top to bottom.

Goal is to have the lower part of left leg vertical or nearly vertical.

Has anyone done similar modifications? Guitar is single neck E9th with 3 floor pedals and 4 knee levers.

Advice is gladly welcomed.

Thanks - Ron

Ron,

It does seem more ergonomic for a PSG with only 3 pedals to have them closer to the center.

But if you move the pedals to the right, you will have to also move one or two of the crossbar axles, relocate all of the bellcranks to the right, re-rod all of the changer rods--and then relocate all of your knee levers to the right!

I don't know anything about Erickson guitars, and perhaps they are designed to easily move the undercarriage parts around--but it still is going to be a big job. :)

Check under the guitar. If it has holes for cross shafts and pedal stops, Where pedals need to be moved to. It would not be hard. If no holes for cross shafts, Or pedal stop bar. It could turn into a bigger project.
