Emmons pickup specs

Post by Nick Krol »

Does anyone know how many turns of wire are on 15k emmons pickups? I’ve got an old one that’s dying and want to do a rewind but don’t know how many turns to put.

The gauge and length of the wire, how tightly and uniformly it is wound, the magnetic flux and physical form of the poles, all make a difference. This is why two pickups with the same passive resistance can sound entirely different. If it was easy to replicate the SOUND of the old Emmons and ShoBud single coils everybody would be doing it, but in fact nobody has. Close, very close, but no cigars.
